| Hives with Bees | |||||

We offer Warré hives with bees every spring, primarily to students who have undertaken the 2 day Natural Beekeeping course. The hives are populated with bees from our isolated apiaries in the Blue Mountains and Central Tablelands of NSW. We do not use chemical treatments, or feed our bees with sugar syrup or pollen supplements. Our bees are reared on virgin comb and are gentle, resilient and productive. Importantly, all colonies are guaranteed queen-right and free of brood disease and Small Hive Beetle at time of sale. Included in the cost is delivery to the Sydney Basin, Blue Mountains and Central Tablelands regions of NSW, and email advice for the season. We offer Warré hives without bees for those who already have their own bees or want to populate the hive with a local swarm. Due to high demand, most hive sales are limited to those who have undertaken the 2 day Natural Beekeeping course, and delivery is limited to those in the Sydney Basin, Blue Mountains and Central Tablelands of NSW. Our hives are expertly made and constructed using plantation pine. All hive parts are hot-dipped in a mixture of pure Australian beeswax and raw Australian linseed oil, and dried for months before use. We do not paint our hives, although this is recommended for areas with high rainfall. |

Please note: This hive has been slightly modified from the traditional Warré hive to suit Australian conditions and timber sizes. We have trialed this hive over a number of seasons and can vouch for its suitability in Australian conditions. |

We are currently trialing a hive that is a hybrid of the French Warré hive, the Silesian Berlepsch hive and the German Golden Hive, or Einrembeute. A feature of the new hive design will be two removable side doors, revealing a full-length glass panel, which will enable you to observe your bees without opening the hive.
